Runners competing in national meet
The CIF Finals and State Championships are done, but the cross country season continues for a couple of city runners on Saturday.
Northwood High’s Bethan Knights will compete in the Nike Cross Country Nationals this morning in Portland, Ore.
Knights has had a brilliant junior season. She finished second at the Orange County Championships, first in the Pacific Coast League and second in Division 3 at both the CIF Finals and CIF State Championships.
She will compete against some of the best runners in the country on the Portland Meadows 5K course, which is known for its whoop-deedoos and hay bales, according to the Nike site.
This is the ninth year of the Nike Nationals.
The event will be webcast live at nikecross nationals.com with the girls race at 10:05 a.m.
Crean Lutheran High sophomore Sean Pino is running in the Footlocker West Regionals at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut this morning.
Pino placed fourth in Division 4 at the CIF State Championships last weekend and paced Crean Lutheran to a second-place team finish.

The top finishers from the races advance to the Footlocker National Championships on Dec. 8.
