COACH'S WEEKLY NEWSLETTER

The finish line is sometimes merely the symbol of victory.  All sorts of personal triumphs take place before that point, and the outcome of the race may actually be decided long before the end.  ~Laurence Malone

This past Saturday we had The Bridge XC Challenge  Race with Segerstrom HS & Woodbridge HS.   Some of our athletes got the taste of XC racing for the first time this season.  We had some surprises both positive and negative as is expected for early season.  However we did have two athletes who made their presence known; Braelynn Lynch and Jeremy Kang. They have been selected as runners of the week!  Congrats to them both for starting the season off solid and demonstrating their ability early in the season! The work they have put in over the summertime is really paying dividends for the start of their seasons. Zara Commissariat and Ray Hsiao also had impressive 9th grade times in the first race of the season!  Cross Country is one of those sports where the off-season is crucial to having a successful season.

Our Monday practices will be at Quail Hill and starting at 4pm.  Athletes will go home after the end of school and then meet at 4pm at Quail HIll Park.  Families are asked to help carpool and transport athletes to and from the park.

Parents please remember all absences will need to be cleared through the attendance office by a parent. Cross country is a class at NHS and absences are treated like any other course for HS credit.  Practice times will be daily from 3pm to 6:00pm.  If you are going to be part of our team clear off your schedule and make a commitment.
