“Number one is just to gain a passion for running. To love the morning, to love the trail, to love the pace on the track. And if some kid gets really good at it, that’s cool too.”– Pat Tyson
This past week was a tough week with a full week of school and practice for the first time. All sports and high schools are struggling with the adjustment. Luckily we were still able to get in some quality runs. We also got to race early Saturday morning at the Saddleback Cup. The coaching staff was really happy with the athletes who ran. Although the course was limited to 2miles we still managed to have some standout performances. Our two standouts this week Jude Alabed and Maia Murthy have been selected as the athletes of the week. Jude moved up to the #3 fastest spot on the all time list for the Saddleback Cup!! He is going to be fun to watch as the season progresses. Maia had a solid race for 2miles as she also set a personal best for the course! CONGRATS to the freshman boys team who won the 9th grade race against some of the best Division 1 schools in our area. The 5 scoring runners Ryan Jo, Rey Hsaio, Anderson Mei, Xander Mak and Bryan Huang won the race by 5points!!!! How exciting to start their HS careers with such a terrific team performance. THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT FOR THESE TWOLVES!!!
Our first invitational race of the season will be Saturday at the Dana Hills Invitational for our selected runners. Although we are not in tip-top race shape; this early season race will give everyone some experience and some insight into their fitness level. Looking forward to seeing our Timberwolf Families at the first invite races the next few weeks!
EXTREME HEAT ALERT. WE ARE MOVING THIS WEEKS PRACTICE TO THE EARLY MORNING HOURS. THIS WILL BE A BIG SACRIFICE FOR ALL ATHLETES, PARENTS AND COACHES!! PLEASE BE ON TIME AS WE WILL GET STARTED IMMEDIATELY TO AVOID THE HEAT AND ALLOW TIME FOR ATHLETES TO CLEAN UP FOR THE SCHOOL DAY. ALL LOCKER ROOM FACILITIES WILL BE AVAILABLE AFTER MORNING PRACTICE TO SHOWER AND GET DRESSED FOR THE SCHOOL DAYS!
