This past week was a tough week with the increased weather temperatures. All sports and high schools are struggling with the hot weather. Luckily we were still able to get in a few runs in the early morning hours.
Our first invitational race of the season was Saturday at the Dana Hills Invite. The Timberwolves had a good showing with many of our athletes running personal best so early in the season. The course was fast with good competition from a variety of Southern California schools. Our athletes of the meet are Lia Herrera and Ray Hsiao. Senior Lia ran a seasonal best time for 3 miles and was second on our varsity team. Freshman Ray won his very first high school xc race in a tremendous time of 16:43. He is going to be fun to watch as the season goes on into the fall. Congrats to Jermey Kang and Harris Dai who made the NHS Top 10 list at Dana Hills. They are #6 and #8 respectively for the two junior athletes. AND once again our 9th grade boys took home the top honors in the Freshman grade level race!! The future is bright!!
This week we will have a full week of training to prepare for the big event at the Great Park Sept 19/20. Saturday will be a workout for all athletes and we may a few athletes race too. Stay tuned!!
