COACH'S WEEKLY NEWSLETTER

“The voice inside your head that says you can’t do this is a liar.”

Terrific race for the Timberwolves Saturday at the Laguna Hills Invite and a welcomed cool conditions.  We had many of our novice runners experienced a xc invite for the first time ever.  In addition many veteran runners had their first race too at the famous Laguna Hills course.  The coaching staff was extremely pleased with how the athletes performed. We can definitely tell how the summer training has paid off for those committed athletes.   Athletes need to remember that every course is different in HS as some are flat, hilly, grassy or pavement and all of those factor into the average speed of the course.  In addition the weather can be extreme like the heat this past week.  Keeping a record on how you run on each course is an important part of goal setting for xc runners. As we move into the season athletes will see how they improve as the weather temp drops and fitness levels rise.   Our athletes of the week are Jude Alabed who posted a terrific time and it was his personal best on the course!!!!  The girls athlete of the week will go to the 10th grader Kasia Lien who also had a personal best!!  Great job to our two runners.

As we move into our second week of racing it is going to be a very busy week for the T-wolves. Friday and Saturday we have two extremely long team events.  Friday we will race at the Woodbridge/Northwood Invite at the Great Park and also help organize the event.  Saturday we are again asking for our athletes to help supervise and organize the second day of the Woodbridge/Northwood Invite at the Great Park.  Parents and Athletes this is our ONLY team fundraising opportunity of the season. If we all pitch in and share the workload it will be a huge success and we can continue the tradition in the future. Please sign up to help volunteer during both days as there are many time durations to fill on each day.
