WOW! What an amazing event for young people at the WHS/NHS XC Classic.  I want to thank all parents who helped over the two day period. We could not have provided such an outstanding race experience for the thousands of runners without the help of so many volunteers.  The NHS XC parents stepped up big time to help set-up, stage, and clean-up the XC event.  The athletes had a super experience which is the number 1 goal. We get so many positive responses over the weekend and coaches aren't the only ones responsible for so many of the moving pieces. The NHS drumline, cheer squad, our athletic directors, our custodial staff and our administration all contribute to the tremendous event.  Northwood has a HUGE presence at The Great Park!!!!!!!!!

The Timberwolves had awesome results at the 43rd annual XC classic.   The coaching staff is impressed with the number of athletes who have made significant improvement since last season.  Trust in the training and enjoy the results!  On the girls side runners continue to improve every week.  Our Lia Herrera and Maia Murthy both had personal best for 3 miles on Friday evening. They look forward to solidifying our varsity girls team in upcoming weeks.  On the boys team veterans Jude Alabed, and Trey McEwen all had personal best at the Classic.  The boys had 19 runners set personal best in the early season invite. Can't forget our two SUPER STAR SENIORS who both smashed the all time school records at Northwood on any course Logan Shaw 14:44 and Santino Garcia 14:47

Our athletes of the week went to Nikolaji Waldron and Kayla Cheung.  Nikolaji had a tremendous race in the freshman boys division running a PR.  He had a terrific week of practice and it showed.  It was a break-thorough race for the freshman.   Kayla had a personal best for a 3 mile course for her freshman year.  She is beginning to be a consistent force on our girls team.  Great job to our athletes of the meet with fast early season results.

As we move into our fourth and final week of preseason racing it is going to be exciting for the T-wolves.  We finish our preseason meets at Carlsbad Grit and Grind XC Invite on Saturday morning.  The weather should be terrific and the course is ultra fast.  Athletes who are invited to compete this weekend will take an early bus at 730am and depart for San Diego County.  Competition at Carlsbad will be stiff for our athletes so be ready to compete at high levels.

Have a good week,

NHS COAHES
